- Competition Format
- The series is generally contested in a time trial format. Each competitor must complete the distance separately from other competitors. Drafting is prohibited.
- On cycling and inline skating distances, competitors will be sent onto the course one by one, with 30-second intervals for cycling and 15-second intervals for running.
- In cycling distances, only standard human-powered bicycles such as road bikes, mountain bikes, time trial bikes, hand bikes, city bikes, and scooters are allowed. Bicycles or tandems with additional power sources or recumbent bicycles are prohibited. The bicycle must have functioning brakes. Different types of bicycles are not categorized separately.
- In selected stages, pair or team events are allowed for cycling distances.
- In pair cycling events, competitors are sent to the course in pairs with 30-second intervals. If no partner is available, competitors may start individually.
- In team cycling events, competitors are sent to the course in groups of up to three, with 60-second intervals. If a suitable team member is unavailable, competitors may start in pairs or individually.
- In pair and team cycling events, the partners or team members must participate in the same distance, but they do not need to belong to the same club or age category. Only those starting together are allowed to draft off each other and cooperate to achieve a better time. Drafting off other teams, pairs, or individual competitors is prohibited. The time of the pair or team is recorded by the last finisher, and both competitors or all team members will receive the same time and placement.
- If a competitor in a pair or team cycling event is forced to retire due to a technical issue, the other pair member(s) or team member(s) are allowed to continue without the retiring competitor and will receive a result in the protocol. However, this is only allowed if the retiring competitor reports their retirement and technical issue to the officials as soon as they return to the competition area. In case of unsporting behavior, officials may assign the retirement to the competitor and their teammate(s).
- The competition generally starts from the start podium at the competition center, but if desired, a competitor may start from the ground in front of the podium. The competitor’s competition time will start from the moment they actually start the race.
- In cycling and inline skating distances, competitors can reserve a start time from available slots, which will be recorded in the start protocol. If necessary, the start official has the right to modify the start order. A competitor has priority to start at their reserved time. Live queue start is also allowed, but reserved slots will always have priority. If there are fewer available start times than competitors wishing to start outside their reserved time, no guarantees are made for those in the live queue. The organizer may change previously reserved start times in case of urgent need.
- In running distances, the start order is generally determined live, but the organizer may also set the start order based on results from previous stages, starting with the fastest or slowest. Competitors must move to the turnaround point and back to the finish line on the pedestrian path if the course allows or on the right side of the road (in both directions, competitors must run on the same side of the road).
- Participation fees
- The entry fee includes a marked and regulated course with marshals, timing, results in the protocol, season numbers issued at the first stage of participation (replacement numbers are issued for a fee), access to medical assistance at the competition center, refreshment drinks after the finish, awards based on overall results, event photos, bag storage service, and a trampoline for young family members if the weather is not rainy or windy.

- Additional Rules
- At the participant's first event of the season, a competition number and timing chip will be issued, valid for all stages. The chip is issued with a €20 deposit and can be kept until the last stage. The chip must be returned by the final stage to receive the deposit back.
- The fee for issuing a replacement number is €5, and the new replacement number remains valid for all subsequent stages.
- Young athletes who hold a cycling federation competition license must follow the transfer restrictions set in the competition rules.
- Filter Tempo Series is a mass participation sports event. All interested participants are welcome to start.
- Warm-up on the race course during the competition is prohibited.
- Littering is strictly prohibited. Competitors who throw litter elsewhere will be disqualified.
- The organizer does not provide spare parts or technical assistance on the course.
- Initial medical assistance is provided by a medic at the event center.
- Penalties are applied according to this guide and the UCI competition regulations and the EJL competition rules for road races.
- Participants must uphold clean and fair sportsmanship. The competition follows Estonian anti-doping regulations, and SA Eesti Antidoping has the right to conduct doping control among all participants.
- Participants may only start under their own name.
- On the competition grounds (including the event center and race courses), it is mandatory to comply with traffic regulations, traffic marshals, road signs, signals, and the organizers' instructions.
- The races take place on open roads. While participants' movement on the course is prioritized in relation to other traffic, most of the course is not closed to vehicle traffic. Participants are responsible for their own safety and must follow traffic laws. Cyclists and inline skaters must use the right side of the road and wear a helmet.
- Any issues not defined in this guide will be resolved by the competition official or the jury designated by the organizer.
- Timing
- The Filter Tempo Series uses chips for timing. The chip must be attached around the right ankle as low as possible, with the sensor facing outward.
- Incorrect use or forgetting to wear the chip will not guarantee a result.
- Results
- To receive a result, the competitor must complete the competition course fully and wear the competitor number issued by the organizer visibly from the entrance of the start corridor to crossing the finish line, according to the requirements on the lower back (on the middle pocket).
- Without a chip, completing the course and/or finishing does not guarantee participation in the results.
- Competitors in the same class who finish with the same times will both be awarded a higher position.
- Unofficial results will be published on the series' website as soon as possible.
- Crossing the finish line repeatedly is prohibited.
- Results will be confirmed after the end of the third competition day. Preliminary results may be adjusted based on observations from competitors or the judge's crew.
- Until the results are confirmed, it is possible to report potential errors.
- Participants have the right to submit clarifications and protests regarding possible errors in the preliminary results, unsporting behavior by fellow competitors, or similar issues within 3 days after the competition, by emailing the organizer or the timekeeper, depending on the type of complaint. After the results are confirmed, protests submitted will not be considered, and the results will not be changed, even if previously unnoticed errors are found in the protocol. If a competitor doubts the accuracy of their result, they have the right to request a review of the result only until the final results are published – final stage results are final.
- Seasonal results
- Each participant earns points for completing a stage.
- The seasonal points total is the sum of the five best results. When creating the overall standings, the weakest result is eliminated, meaning the lowest point total for all competitors will not be considered starting from the compilation of results after the 3rd stage.
- Points are awarded only based on distance.
- Points for completing a stage are awarded as follows:
- 1st place – 300+100 points
- 2nd place – 299+60 points
- 3rd place – 298+40 points
- 4th place – 297+30 points
- 5th place – 296+20 points
- 6th place – 295+10 points
- 7th place – 294+8 points
- 8th place – 293+6 points
- 9th place – 292+4 points
- 10th place – 291+2 points
- 11th place – 290 points
- Each subsequent place gets one less point.
- For a completed stage, if it was a pair or team event, the points are awarded as follows:
- 1st place – 300+50 points
- 2nd place – 299+30 points
- 3rd place – 298+20 points
- 4th place – 297+15 points
- 5th place – 296+10 points
- 6th place – 295+5 points
- 7th place – 294+4 points
- 8th place – 293+3 points
- 9th place – 292+2 points
- 10th place – 291+1 point
- 11th place – 290 points
- Each subsequent place gets one less point, but no less than 1 point.
- If competitors have equal point totals, the competitor with the higher ranking will be placed higher, based on the number of higher placements (first places first, then second places, and so on). In case of equal stage placements, the result of the last stage is considered. If the last stage results are the same, the results of the last two stages are considered, and so on until the first difference.
- Season results are updated within 96 hours after each stage.
- Error reports related to season results must be submitted within 10 days after the competition day of the stage associated with the error.
- Prize Giving
- There will be no stage-specific prize giving.
- The following prizes will be awarded based on overall season results:
- For the cycling distance, the top six men and top three women in the absolute standings, as well as the top three athletes in each open age category, but only if the athlete has finished at least two stages of the series.
- For the youth cycling distance, the top six men and top three women in the absolute standings, as well as the top three athletes in each open age category, but only if the athlete has finished at least two stages of the series.
- For the inline skating distance, the top six men and top three women in the absolute standings, as well as the top athlete in each open age category, but only if the athlete has finished at least two stages of the series.
- For the running distance, the top six men and top three women in the absolute standings, as well as the top athlete in each open age category, but only if the athlete has finished at least two stages of the series.
- Although a single random participation may secure a podium position in some age categories with weaker competition, it must be understood that the Filter Tempo Series season medal is an achievement award, not granted for a random finish. To ensure the sporting value of the podium, only athletes who have finished at least two stages of the series are awarded with a season medal.
- Participation in the prize giving ceremony is required to receive the prize. If the medalist cannot attend the prize giving, their coach or representative may collect the prize on their behalf. However, no further distribution of prizes will take place. If a competitor fails to appear at the prize giving, they forfeit their prize.
- Golden Pot
- The Golden Pot represents the Filter Tempo Series prize program, in which athletes who have finished in the same discipline—cycling or running—at all stages of the series are awarded. In 2025, all Filter Golden Pot nominees will receive a specially designed Golden Pot medal. Additionally, special prizes will be drawn among the nominees.
- No double prizes are awarded – even if an athlete has finished in multiple distances at all events, they will only receive 1 prize.
- Only finishes that are correctly recorded in the official result protocol count as valid. Registrations for events where the participant did not start or started but did not finish do not count.
- Golden Pot medals will be awarded at the last stage of the season.
- Responsibility
- Each participant confirms by entering that they are responsible for their own health condition and athletic preparation, and that they participate in the stage entirely at their own risk, complying with the requirements of this guide.
- The competitor releases the organizer, judges, and other individuals contributing to the event from liability in case of injury on the course or competition area. In the event of an accident, each competitor is responsible for their own damages and will not file any claims against the organizer.
